It looks like we’ll be controlling a different protagonist in the next entry to the Halo series, Halo 5: Guardians, as Mike Colter, the actor who plays Agent Locke in the upcoming Halo: Nightfall TV series, has revealed you’ll actually be playing as his character, Agent Jameson Locke, in Halo 5 who’ll be on the search for Master Chief, but why?

In an interview with X-One magazine, Colter revealed that Master Chief won’t be the games main protagonist and it’ll be the character he plays in the upcoming TV Series, Halo: Nightfall.

“Yeah, I’m a playable character in Halo 5,” he claims. “Once Halo: The Master Chief Collection is released, and then Halo 5 comes out shortly thereafter, you’re basically going to be playing a game with me as the primary character.

“I’ll have some cool weaponry, and some cool abilities, because by that time I’ll be a Spartan IV.”

Though Colter didn’t reveal how much of the game will see us controlling Agent Locke, he did hint at the games plot that’ll see you hunting down Master Chief.

“What’s not known, is whether I’m a friend or foe,” he teased. “The relationship between Master Chief and Jameson Locke is going to be interesting. Because what’s the outcome?

“Is he dead or alive? Because that’s usually what a manhunt comes down to, dead or alive, but you won’t know what the purpose of finding Master Chief is [right away].

“Or what will happen if we do find him, what condition he will be in, and where he’s at mentally. But I’m sure that’ll be a plot twist in Halo 5.”

Right now Halo 5: Guardians doesn’t have a set release date on Xbox 360 and Xbox One, but is Colter hinting that we’ll see the game early next year instead of later? What are your thoughts to the teased plot? Leave a comment below!
