With Amazon recently joining the battle for the living room with the Amazon Fire TV and the Amazon Fire TV Stick, it seems like that battle could be getting a little harder as Roku have announced the Google Play channel so users can stream their Google Play Movies and TV Shows via the tiny streaming box.

In addition to Netflix, Hulu Plus, HBO Go, and YouTube channels to name a few, Roku users will soon have access to Google Play Movies & TV allowing them to purchase and stream thousands of new and classic movies and TV shows on your Roku Player. In addition to the huge library of titles, users can take advantage of the “Gift from Google” feature when they sign up for a Google Account, a feature that’s currently offering X-Men absolutely free.

Google Play also utilises the power of Google Search when you’re streaming Movies and TV allowing you to pause the program or movie you’re watching to discover the name of the actor or actress currently on screen, so you’ll be able to concentrate on the movie and not on trying to remember where the hell you’ve seen that person before.

You can find Google Play Movies & TV in the Channel Store now on current-generation Roku players. Roku TV support is coming soon.
