Not content with dominating the silver screen, Marvel are working on dominating the small screen too. Marvel’s deal with Netflix for the four upcoming shows: Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Daredevil. As Marvel’s Daredevil is shooting, testing has begun for Jessica Jones’ titular lead role. Reports say that Krysten Ritter, Alexandra Daddario, Teresa Palmer, and Jessica De Gouw are all in the running.
Meanwhile, casting for Luke Cage is also underway. Cage will appear in Jessica Jones before starring in one of the other three series – (it’s Luke Cage). Online reports say that Lance Gross and Mike Colter are currently being eyed up to play Cage.
Jessica Jones has a 13-episode deal with Netflix. In the source comics Jones is a superhero who retires from the superhero business to open up a detective agency. Slashfilm say that:
“The current plan is to have Luke Cage appear in 6-7 episodes of Jessica Jones before breaking out onto his own show.
“Both shows are part of the four-title deal struck by Marvel and Netflix last year.”
The launch schedule will see Daredevil release first, with Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage following. In true Marvel style, once the series’ are complete a crossover will take place.
