A little later than planned, GfK Chart-Track has finally announced this weeks UK gaming charts after receiving data a little late from some UK retailers this morning. The reason for the delay is unknown, it just seems that one or two retailers took their sweet time to get their data sorted. The results are in however and it seems, just as predicted, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare has knocked FIFA 15 from the top spot starting the war for Christmas number one.
According to Chart-Track, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare outsold its predecessor, Call of Duty: Ghosts, in the UK in terms of launch week sales, which sounds impressive, but there’s three stipulations making these results a little less impressive.
You see, last year Call of Duty: Ghosts didn’t launch on Xbox One in the UK until a week later than other platforms, Ghosts launched for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One before both consoles were even released which means sales were delayed until people actually got a hold of their consoles, and finally, Advanced Warfare went on sale a day earlier than Ghosts thanks to Advanced Warfare’s Day Zero edition, giving it an additional 24 hours on sale.
Overall, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is the fifth-biggest Call of Duty game to launch in the UK which isn’t the best launch ever, but we’ll have to wait until the end of the year to really see how well Advanced Warfare performs.
Elsewhere in the charts, debuting in third place is Football Manager 2015 which lands snuggly in third place this week, pushing last week’s second placeholder, Sunset Overdrive, even further down the charts to eighth place.
Here’s the full rundown this week:
- Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
- FIFA 15
- Football Manager 2015
- Alien Isolation
- Minecraft: PlayStation Edition
- Skylanders Trap Team
- Sunset Overdrive
- The Evil Within
- Minecraft Xbox Edition
Can Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare hold onto the top spot until Christmas? It’ll be interesting to see how the next few weeks turn out!
