For those of you that missed out on Evolves BIG Alpha earlier this year, you’ll be pleased to know that next month in January, 2015, Xbox One players will be able to take part in an exclusive open beta!
Beginning January 15, 2015 players will be able to dive into the beta without needing a code, you will however need an Xbox Live Gold subscription to take part. From the beginning, the game will feature the “Hunt” game mode which gives you access to the first eight hunters, (Markov, Maggie, Val, Hank, Hyde, Griffin, Lazarus, and Bucket), as well as the Goliath and Kraken monsters. All 12 maps that ship with the final game will also be available in the beta.
Later on in the beta, on January 17, Turtle Rock will introduce the “Evacuation” game mode to the beta. Evacuation is the games non-linear campaign mode that combines all the maps and modes from the game into one massive game. Even more exciting than getting to play this mode is that for any monster or hunter you unlock during the beta will carry over to the full game.
As for those with a PC or a PlayStation 4, the latter will be able to hop into the beta on January 16, that is if you were invited into the BIG Alpha. The beta won’t be the same as the Xbox One beta however, and is being called a “technical test.” The limited test will not include the “Evacuation” mode, unlocks won’t carry over to the full game. PlayStation 4 users should start receiving email invites soon.
Finally, PC players who were invited to the BIG Alpha, or own copies of Left 4 Dead or BioShock: Infinite on Steam, will also be invited to a technical test. This of course will also not include the “Evacuation” mode or keep your unlocks.
All tests will run until January 19.
