The arrival of the Cadbury Creme Egg is something us Britons mark on our calendars, as the delicious gooey chocolatey goodness only arrives once a year (twice if you count the re-release in October branded as the “Scream Egg”). So you can imagine my frustration, along with many, that Kraft, the company that purchased Cadbury a few years back, has only gone and changed the recipe if the chocolate. Actually, frustration doesn’t cut it. Frankly, I’m pissed.

Cadbury have always been proud of always using milk chocolate in its various delicious chocolatey treats, so you can imagine my surprise to hear that Kraft, the company behind Cadbury, have now changed the recipe of the Cadbury’s Creme Egg to include some cheap ‘chocolate’ instead. In order to shave a penny off of production, the well known penny-pinching bigwigs at Kraft Foods have decided to screw customer satisfaction and the quality we all know and love in order to save a buck or two.

According to a Kraft spokesperson, the new Creme Egg no longer has the traditional milk chocolate and instead is made from a “standard cocoa mix chocolate.” What the fuck Kraft. They also added that the shell is “no longer Dairy Milk… it’s similar, but not exactly Dairy Milk.”

Oh and to make matters worse, Kraft Foods has decided to remove one of the Creme Eggs from the Cadbury Creme Egg multipack. What the hell is happening here? No longer can we gorge ourselves on a multipack of six gooey eggs, now we’ve only got five. Which means in our house of three, we no longer have two each, instead we’ll have to leave someone out. What a travesty! It also messes up our recipe for Creme Egg Brownies that we make every year.

It’s also worth mentioning that the omission of the sixth Creme Egg also hasn’t come with a lower price.

I want six eggs, Kraft, not five.

Now leave me alone while I go cry into a five box of not-quite Cadbury’s Creme Eggs..
