Fans of video game music will be pleased to discover that a new album of musical arrangements from the Final Fantasy games will be released as a digital download on 23 February. The album is based on the Final Symphony concert tour, which was performed by the London Symphony Orchestra in 2013. The album was produced in the famous Abbey Road Studios under the careful supervision of composer Nobuo Uematsu, and features symphonic music from Final Fantasy VI, VII and X (some pretty good choices there, in my opinion!)
Symphony concerts featuring video game music are gaining popularity, with sell-out tours happening around the world; I, for one, think they are a great melding of the two art forms. The latest one I attended was a few years back in Sydney, and featured arrangements from The Legend of Zelda; so my ears are looking forward to experiencing this latest Final Fantasy symphony album.
