LG this morning have quietly unveiled another new version of their popular LG G Watch R, this time one with a little more style and a pretty peculiar name. The new watch is simply called the LG Watch Urbane and is a fashionable “luxury” Android Wear-powered smartwatch.
Essentially, the device is no different to the LG G Watch R in terms of software, but that’s not what matters here, the LG Watch Urbane has the same circular display, but this time the 1.3-inch screen is encased in what LG is called a “luxury” all-metal body. It’s set to be offered in gold and silver finishes with a 22mm natural leather strap, and offers the same power and tech as the LG G Watch R, though chances are it’ll be a much higher price.
We mention in our review of the LG G Watch R that all though it’s the more expensive smartwatch on the market, its more casual and sporty appearance means that it can be worn with any outfit. The LG Watch Urbane however is reserved for those special occasions where you want to look fancy, but have the same functionality as your other more casual watch offering.
“The LG Watch Urbane’s classic design and smart features make it the perfect smartwatch to complement our G Watch and G Watch R, which were designed as more casual and active devices,” says LG mobile president and CEO Juno Cho in a statement. Unfortunately that’s all that has been said about the Urbane so far, aside from a few press images. The watch is set to be at Mobile World Congress next month, so stay tuned for more information around that time.
