Apple introduced Touch ID with the iPhone 5s back in 2013 and now it’s made its way over to the iPad Air 2. The company could be set to incorporate it into the next MacBook Air, according to AppleCorner.
The Taiwanese blog referenced supply chain sources and said that the upcoming 12-inch Air will offer a Retina Display and the fingerprint sensor. In addition, for the people who do not want to buy a new laptop, Apple is going to offer Touch ID on the Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad.
The blog also said the introduction of the sensor on the Air will means consumers can use Apple Pay online. The service, which Apple claims is “simple, secure and private”, allows users to use Touch ID to make payments in stores or in apps. Currently available on just the iPhone 6 & 6 Plus, iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 3 and Apple Watch, it would come as a welcome addition to the Mac. Not only that but the ability to make online payments makes it even more compelling.
