Hold on to your maces, Hawkgirl’s coming to television’s DC universe…

According to Entertainment Weekly, Broadway starlet Ciara Renée has been cast for the role of Justice League heroine Hawkgirl in the potential upcoming Arrow/Flash spinoff series on The CW.

This spinoff is the very same that promises a team up between Brandon Routh’s Atom, Caity Lotz’s Canary (even though she’s technically dead), Wentworth Miller’s Captain Cold, Dominic Purcell’s Heatwave and Victor Garber’s (and presumably Robbie Amell’s) Firestorm.

Not much has been said about the upcoming spinoff, but executive producer of the show Greg Berlanti told EW that “it honors all of the great team up movies, whether it’s Ocean’s Eleven or whether it’s the superhero books. That’s what it’s about. If you go back to the old westerns, there would be The Lone Gunman, but there would also be The Magnificent Seven. It’s very much in the spirit of those kinds of movies and shows.”

Hawkgirl is an iconic character in the Justice League, who goes by the real name Kendra Saunders. Could this be potential for seeing Hawkman in the future?
