DiscStorm will bring fast paced arena-style combat to the PS Vita, PC this Summer
Do you know what the PS Vita is missing? A retro-inspired disc-flying multiplayer arena combat game. If you’ve been echoing those thoughts, then today is our lucky day as indie developer XMPT Games and publisher Mastertronic has unveiled DiscStorm, a fast-paced arena combat game with frizbees which is coming to PS Vita, PC, Mac, and Linux this Summer.
Complete with a retro pixel art style and more disc-based combat, DiscStorm will have you flinging frizbee’s everywhere, at everything, all the time. The brand new title from XMPT puts players in a series of different arenas testing their extreme frizbee skills against undead foes and other AI controlled enemies. Or if you prefer you can take your skills online and challenge your friends to a round of Frizzbee Golf where your friend is the goal post.
Including a series of different game modes, such as a first-to-ten brawl, or a tactical game of survival, players will have enough to keep them on their toes, especially if they attempt the extreme Death Disc mode where each disc has a one-hit-kill power behind it.
“DiscStorm began its life as a personal project that I had prototyped one Christmas,” reveals Richard Pilot, Programmer, XMPT Games. “The team enjoyed it so much that we decided to approach Mastertronic, who really helped push the game to the next level. It’s been a blast to take it to shows and watch players go through the full spectrum of elation and rage as they battle against their friends! I can’t wait to see what everyone thinks when we release later this year.”
Does DiscStorm look like your sort of thing? Well you’ll be able to play it this summer on PS Vita, PC, Mac and Linux. If you can’t wait that long, head to EGX Rezzed in London this week (it starts tomorrow!) to get hands on with the game early!
