Who said smartwatches had to be expensive? Not Hansnspree!
Hannspree has unveiled its new Sports Watch at a staggeringly low cost of just £29.99. This is even more significant after Apple confirmed the prices of its smartwatches a few weeks ago. The base model for the Apple Watch is £299 and goes up to £13,500. Of course you aren’t going to get the kind of functionality or 18ct gold construction like on those watches, but the Sports Watch does offer enough to be classed as a ‘smartwatch’.
It has a 0.86-inch OLED display, a plastic body and rubber strap. It can monitor distances, count steps, track sleep and count calories. What puts in the category of ‘smartwatch’ and not just a fitness watch is that fact that once you connect it to your phone via Bluetooth, it can show call and message notifications. It is accompanied by a free app that is available on both iOS and Android.
It also offers impressive battery life- eight to ten days from a single charge is what you can expect. Compare that to the Apple’s one, which you’ll only get 18 hours out of.
Like previously mentioned, it doesn’t have the features of the Apple Watch, such as the ability to use apps. However, it’s definitely possible to see the Sports Watch getting a lot of positive attention simply because of the price. If you’re looking to break into this market but don’t want to throw so much money at it, this could be the device to give you a flavour as to what to expect from smartwatches.
