Rage Quitters beware, if you decide to quit Mortal Kombat X bouts early, your head will explode
Yesterday Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon teased that the game would be getting a new “-ality” to join Brutality and Fatality and now we know exactly what it is: Quitality. A new -ality which aims to discourage people from rage quitting games by having their characters heads explode when they do. Lovely.
The new finishing move was introduced during NeatherRealm’s Twitch stream last night and was demonstrated in a number of ways, though it usually ended up with the same outcome. Simply put, if you rage quit half way through an online game, your character’s head will explode in all it’s gory glory, and the opponent will get an instant win.
During the stream NetherRealm’s Derek Kirtzic said that the new move is “really more [about] making the winner look better.” The winner, will then be able to bask in the glory of being a more formidable opponent as blood spurts out of the hole where their head once was. Kirtzic noted that NeatherRealm didn’t want to overly punish players who might need to quit, but they did want to “glorify the winnner.”
The non-quitter, he said, gets to bask in the glory of watching their opponent instantly die. Kirtzic said that NetherRealm didn’t want to overly punish players who might quit in the midst of an online match, but they “wanted to glorify the winner.”
Mortal Kombat X is coming to PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One on April 14. The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 are coming this summer following a brief delay..
