Mr. Herman, or rather Paul Reubens is returning to grace our screens again as Pee-wee Herman.
He took to his blog the other day to post the first still of the film, the 3rd: Pee-wee’s Big Holiday, set to be a Netflix release. Captioned “Wow, am I tired! Just finished the second day of filming. Hitchhiked yesterday all day. Got a ride, hitchhiked some more, then got another ride. A lot of traveling in two days!” we can only guess the antics he’ll get up to.
The character of Pee-wee dates all the way back to the late 70s, with a strong success throughout the 80s with The Pee-wee Herman Show running for a few years and a follow up of Pee-wee’s Big Adventure. In the late 80s came Pee-wee’s Playhouse and a second film Big Top Pee-wee until he burned out, Reubens controversial arrest in 1991 somewhat tarnished the positive image of Mr. Herman and it’s not until recent years that negotiations have been had and Pee-Wee has slowly made his way back.
On board for the Big Holiday is Judd Apatow producing and John Lee directing the feature.
Pee-wee’s Big Holiday has no set release date yet but it’s believed that Netflix will release worldwide at some point next year.
