Following the disappointment that was the debut trailer for RollerCoaster Tycoon World, Area 52 Games are starting over..
Earlier this month, RollerCoaster Tycoon World launched a teaser trailer for the upcoming game which was such a dud, the developers are essentially going back to the drawing board. Considering RollerCoaster Tycoon World is the first RollerCoaster Tycoon game since 2004’s RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, many expected impressive graphics, instead they were met with disappointing visuals and boy, did they let everyone know it.
Following fan feedback, with many saying the game resembled something from 2004, Area 52 Games has released a blog post promising that the graphics in the trailer were placeholders for the game and were”pre-alpha stage,” implying that they were old renders from the game built on the Unity 4.6 engine. They’ve revealed that the game will be upgraded to Unity 5.0, and say that the art will be replaced with visuals that’ll make it high definition and seem more realistic and believable overall.
As for the game’s release date, well we’re still waiting on a date, and it seems that the developers won’t be revealing a date until they’re truly happy with the game. “We will not release the game until we know that it is truly ready. If the game needs to be “put back into the oven,” then we will do it.” And hope to hear more of your feedback as the developers plan Alphas, Betas, and hands-on appearances at events. Will we be seeing the game this year? We hope so. But I’m not holding out much hope.
