Barrelling into action, Tembo the Badass Elephant looks to save his city from the evil Phantom Army.
Sega and GameFreak have teamed up on a 2D side scrolling action game, featuring the most badass elephant you’ll have ever seen, and his name is Tembo.
With grease paint and an attitude that even Rambo (Hah! I just got it…) would envy, Tembo is on a mission to protect his beloved Shell City, as any good vigilante commando elephany should be, and prevent its destruction by destroying his foes first.
Harnessing the power of peanuts, Tembo charges through the unstable battlegrounds of his home city in the fight against the invading forces of evil by using his badass elephant strength. Tembo utilises his tusks in devestating charges, his trunk to slam and throw and throwing around his sheer weight and making the most of his size to cause as much damage to the enemy as possible.
The creators of Sonic the Hedgehog and Pokémon haven’t made this an obviously recognisable game to be from neither Sega or GameFreak, but that’s likely the point. It’s been pointed out that the art style is reminiscent of Gravity Falls more than the works of Ken Sugimori.
From the annoucement on Sega’s blog;
Shell City is plunged into a state of emergency after coming under attack from the devastating forces of PHANTOM, led by a mysterious masked commander. Terrifying war machines emblazoned with skulls tear through the city leaving a trail of destruction in their wake! As the National Army struggles to contain PHANTOM, General Krenman sees the mammoth task at hand and calls upon the only thing that stands between Shell City’s obliteration and its salvation; the peanut chompin’, villain stompin’, PHANTOM romping BADASS Elephantidae…TEMBO THE BADASS ELEPHANT!
I wonder what Nintendo are thinking right now with GameFreak working with one of their closest rivals…
Tembo the Badass Elephant is slated for release this summer for download on Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC.
