The upcoming Sherlock Christmas Special will be Set in Victorian London

With only eight months left until we can get our next Sherlock fix, some details have been released regarding the setting of the one-off episode. It seems we’ll be taking a trip back in time to the Victorian era. Steven Moffat, the show’s writer, has revealed the information which will be a big step away from the shows usual modern-day setting.

“The special is its own thing,” confirms Moffat to Entertainment Weekly. “We wanted to do this, but it had to be a special, it had to be separate entity on its own. It’s kind of in its own little bubble.”

For those worried about the setting of the fourth season to follow suit, Moffat confirmed that the fourth season will revert back to its normal setting, with filming to commence as soon as filming of the 90-minute special has completed.

Season four of Sherlock was announced last year by the BBC, something we’re all pretty pumped about. Though a date hasn’t been set for the Christmas Special and the fourth season, it’s likely it’ll pop the special at the heart of its Christmas schedule, with the fourth season to commence in January.
