Sony Brings Unknown Writer to Metal Gear Solid Movie

Sony has brought in Monsters: Dark Continent writer, Jay Basu, to write the script for the Metal Gear Solid movie

After around nine years the cogs are slowly starting to movie on the production of the Metal Gear Solid Movie. The latest addition to the team is Jay Basu, a fairly unknown British writer of the upcoming sci-fi monster flick, Monsters: Dark Continent, to write the script for the Metal Gear Movie.

Though he’s unknown to some, Basu made it as one of the runners up in the Brit List; a selection of the best unmade British screenplays, so with that accolade he’s likely hoping this is his big break. Penning the script for the Metal Gear Solid movie, that many have been waiting for, for almost a decade, is a pretty monumental break, so there’s that, at least.

Elsewhere in the Metal Gear Solid team are the producers Avo and Ari Arad and Jordan Vogt-Rogers for directing duties. Hideo Kojima, who’s whereabouts are currently unknown, expressed interest in Hugh Jackman for the role of Snake, but Avi Arad wanted a lesser known actor for the role. By the sounds of it, the Metal Gear Solid flick might have a fairly independent film vibe about it.

Hopefully in the near future we’ll start hearing more about the casting details.
