Canadian developer Metalhead Software’s very positively received baseball game, Super Mega Baseball is releasing in Europe on PS3 and PS4 this week.
This is the developer’s first game and they were pleasantly surprised with the stellar reviews it received after its North American release last December.
Scott Drader, co-founder of Metalhead, said on a European PlayStation Blog post, “We were blown away by the great response, including some wicked reviews and a Sports GOTY nod from Polygon,” he went on to add, “What we were not ready for however (although were pleasantly surprised by!) was the number of requests along the lines of ‘I’m in Europe, I love baseball, and I want your freakin’ game.'”
Super Mega Baseball lets up to four players play together in either head-to-head, two vs one, two vs two, or co-op vs the CPU matches. Drader elaborates on how fast paced the game is with a full nine-inning game being finished in a matter of 20 mins.
Where Super Mega Baseball shines is that it doesn’t take itself too seriously and knows its strong points. “Our number one goal from the beginning was to nail a set of gameplay mechanics that make for a solid solo and local coop/competitive experience. That means accessible, but with subtleties that add depth over time.”
Europeans will be able to experience Super Mega Baseball on April 1.
