Ahead of the the BAFTA Game Awards this evening, Respawn Entertanment confirmed Titanfall’s sequel is in the works
Speaking with IGN ahead of the BAFTA Game Awards this evening, Respawn founder and CEO Vince Zampella has confirmed that a sequel to Titanfall is in the works, and though EA Games are yet to announce anything, Zampella simply said “so, we’re working on a sequel.”
Titanfall is celebrating its one year anniversary this week and to celebrate all of the game’s DLC has been made available to anyone, absolutely free. Microsoft confirmed the free DLC offer today.
So with a year under its belt, it comes as no surprise that a sequel to the game is in the works.
“I guess EA announced a sequel, so I could play coy and pretend I don’t know anything about it, or… yeah,” said Zampella to IGN. “So we’re working on a sequel. No official name yet, but we’re working on that. That’s the main focus but we’re starting up a second team and doing some smaller stuff too. Small, exploratory, taking it slow! It’ll be multiplatform.”
For a while now there have been murmurs that a Titanfall sequel, currently dubbed Titanfall 2, will be released some time this year and that the Xbox exclusivety will end. Though EA are yet to back up Zampella’s statement, this is pretty much a confirmation that the game is in the works and it’ll be coming to both Xbox and PlayStation platforms.
We’re pretty excited.
