For fans of the marriage of Final Fantasy and Disney adventures of Kingdom Hearts 3, there’s a smidgen of news that might interest you here. Famitsu interviewed Tetsuya Nomura who has revealed that development of the console game is ‘going smoothly’.
He has also revealed that we will hear more about Kingdom Hearts 3 at the D23 Expo in Japan this November, including possible news of a smartphone game and hopefully, some gameplay footage of the PS4 and Xbox One title.
“We have some interesting things planned. There will be Kingdom Hearts 3 news, and various things, I think. Development on Kingdom Hearts 3 is going smoothly, but there will also be new announcements connected to it. As one of those new announcements, I think we should be able to announce a smartphone-specific development for the series in short order.” – Tetsuya Nomura
This may also be taken as an announcement that a KH3 app is being developed for the major release. It wouldn’t be the first time that a Square game has used a companion application for it’s RPG’s, dating back to the Playstation One and it’s tamagochi style Pocketstation mini-game for Final Fantsy VIII.
Whatever the reveal contains, it will hopefully show that Square-Enix are progressing development at a rate we can finally get our feet back into the oversized shoes of Sora and journey through more amazing Disney-inspired worlds, whacking the heartless with a massive key.
