Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor Gets a Game of the Year Edition..

A Game of the Year Edition will be dropping for Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor next week, will be current-gen exclusive.

It’s hardly been six months since the release of Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor but alas, it won a fair few awards last year, so it quite rightly deserves its Game of the Year Edition. The game was well praised by both gamers and critics, even our own John Griffin gave it top marks saying, “The wait for a truly great game set in Tolkien’s Middle-Earth has been a long one, but the wait is finally over.” So that’s enough of a reason to play the game yourself, right?

So lets have at it. Monolith Productions dark take on the Lord of the Rings prequel story, will be getting the coveted Game of the Year Edition next week, and it’ll be landing on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on May 5. It’ll come with the core game, as well as all of the currently available content to download for the game, incl;uding the Lord of the Hunt expansion, the Bright Lord campaign, and a ton of bonus missions, skins, and items.

As for a last-gen release, sadly there seems to be no word on a re-release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Here’s a rundown of what’s included:

  • Story Packs: The Lord of The Hunt and The Bright Lord
  • Skins: The Dark Ranger, Captain of the Watch, Lord of the Hunt, The Bright Lord, Power of Shadow and Lithariel Skins
  • Runes: Hidden Blade, Deadly Archer, Flame of Anor, Rising Storm, Orc Slayer, Defiant to the End, Elven Grace, Ascendant, One with Nature
  • Missions: Guardians of the Flaming Eye, The Berserks and The Skull Crushers Warband Missions
  • Challenge Modes: Test of Power, Test of Speed, Test of Wisdom, Endless Challenge, Test of the Wild, Test of the Ring, Test of Defiance Challenge Modes
  • Additional Features: Photo Mode

Does it deserve a Game of the Year tag? It fell into one of the top most rated games on n3 of last year, so I personally believe it does, yeah. What are your thoughts though? Let us know in the comments.
