Overkill’s The Walking Dead Confirmed for PC, PS4, Xbox One in 2016

Overkill’s The Walking Dead has just scored a publisher, confirms 2016 release for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One

Payday 2 developer teased a very interesting game last summer which turned out to be a game based on The Walking Dead. It’ll be set in the universe created by Robert Kirkman and won’t have any influence from the AMC TV show. It’ll be a co-operative first person shooter which Kirkman has revealed will be very similar to Payday, but in a much bigger world. And now the game has secured a publisher.

The game has now been confirmed to release in 2016 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, Starbreeze, Overkill’s parent studio, has announced. In addition to this confirmation, they also revealed that 505 Games will be the publisher for the new title. Though it’s hardly surprising as 505 Games were the publishers behind Payday 2 and Starbreeze’s Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons.

“505 Games partner[ship] with us on the console publishing for ‘Overkill’s The Walking Dead’ will streamline the distribution and marketing of the title in the traditional space and on the digital console marketplace,” said Starbreeze CEO Bo Andersson Klint. “Having worked together before on the successful Payday-franchise, we are certain this will be a fruitful collaboration.”

According to 505 Games Overkill’s The Walking Dead will offer a completely new co-operative experience set in The Walking Dead universe. It’s set to explore new characters and new storylines.
