Banjo-Kazooie Successor is Called Yooka-Laylee

The spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie has finally been unveiled as Yooka-Laylee, launches Kickstarter campaign

Playtonic Games has already revealed that their upcoming game will be a spiritual successor to Rare’s Banjo-Kazooie, but information as to what the game will be about or when we’ll be able to get our hands on the title have been kept under wraps, until now. Playtonic Games has revealed the first details about the game, which will be called Yooka-Laylee..

Obviously it shares similarities with Playtonic’s Rare heritage, even down to the game being named after the characters themselves, who have also been revealed as a chameleon named Yooka, and a bat named Laylee (who also happens to sit on the back of Yooka). The platform adventure game is also set to be revealed in full at 5PM today when the game’s Kickstarter campaign launches. Backers of the campaign will be able to grab a copy of the game for £10/$15.

IGN has also noted that the game will be released first for PC, with a Wii U, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One version also in the works. Whether they’ll be a part of some stretch goals is unknown right now. First hands-on impressions are set to go live later today too, so look out for that.

Here’s our first look at the two adorable characters:
