Cheaters in Trials of Osiris, the new Destiny game mode, will receive the almighty banhammer

Destiny recently added the new PvP mode called Trials of Osiris this week which pits two teams of 3 Guardians against each other in a competitive match. If you manage to win 9 times without losing 3 times or more, you get access to the Mercury Lighthouse hub, an exclusive area with some serious loot. This of course attracted the best Destiny players to have their try for the glorious winnings, but also attracted the less desirable denizens of any online gaming scene.

As seen in the video above, cheaters were rather prevalent during the Trials of Osiris, using lag and connection hacks to boot people offline during these tense matches, which results in an automatic loss for the poor sods who were on the receiving end of such behaviour. But the developers Bungie have taken note of this and in their weekly blog post addressed peoples concerns.

“There were some among you who took nefarious action against your opponents. Our intrepid team of investigators has diagnosed the most egregious cheaters among us. If you earned your victories by sinister means, you may very well have also earned a temporary (or permanent) time-out.

Bungie is always watching. We enjoy a fair fight and we aim to protect the landscape of the game. Play nice!”
Hopefully this helps deter people from causing trouble in the future, and we can all go back to enjoying the grind soon.
