The PS2 classic Dragon Quest VIII is being remade for release on 3DS this August.
Unfortunately, it’s currently Japan only – wait come back! Square Enix announced this remake through a new teaser site. It’s all in Japanese but feel free to have a look at it! The remake will feature two all new characters – a female thief named Gerda and Morrie, the owner of the Monster Arena.
The game will also feature a fully orchestrated soundtrack by Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, full voice acting and a new system that takes advantage of the console’s Streetpass system.
Dragon Quest VIII will hit Japan audiences on 27 August. Considering the Dragon Quest titles that managed to make it to western audiences on DS, I’d wager we’ll eventually see an EU release.
