More than 5 million players have registered to play Heroes & Generals, the free-to-play MMOFPS from Reto-Moto
Danish developer Reto-Moto has revealed that they’ve crossed the five million registered player milestone on their free-to-play World War II shooter, Heroes & Generals. The game launched into Early Access on Steam in July last year and has since seen a steady growth of players. The game also managed to become one of the first ten games to be greenlit on Steam so it has that going for it too.
Heroes & Generals is a first person shooter on an epic scale. Players not only battle it out for control of various points, but millions of players around the world are fighting to secure territories from their enemies. Players choose between Allies or Axis and are then required to take part in Conquest-like games for control of the territory. Taking roles on the front line or sticking back and helping spot enemies and issuing orders players can get as hands-on or as hands off as they like.
Of all 2014 releases, Heroes & Generals resides as one of the top 10 most popular free-to-play games on Steam. Martin Munk Pollas, CEO at Reto-Moto said in a statement:
“Reaching 5 million players is a huge milestone for us, and we are very grateful for having such a large and engaged community from all parts of the world. We would like to thank all the Heroes and Generals, who makes this player-driven universe come to life and we promise we will continue to work hard adding new content and features to give the ultimate WWII gaming experience to our players.”
To celebrate the massive milestone, Reto-Moto is offering the chance for you to win some Gold vouchers for the game this weekend, you can find more about this give-away here.
Reto-Moto has also compiled a pretty interesting infographic revealing just how much action players have been involved in since the game’s launch:
