After rumours that ABC were working on a new show for The Muppets, the network officially confirmed the news today
ABC has today announced that they’ve greenlit a reboot of The Muppet Show that’ll be airing during primetime on the network. This news follows rumours that ABC were working on a more “adult” version of The Muppets Show that’d have a mockumentary feel to it, similar to The Office. ABC also released the first official image for the show too.
Along with the first official photo, ABC has also released a synopsis that also confirmed the previous murmurs in regards to the adult-orientated show:
“The Muppets” return to prime time with a contemporary, documentary-style show that, for the first time ever, will explore the Muppets’ personal lives and relationships, both at home and at work, as well as romances, break-ups, achievements, disappointments, wants and desires; a more adult Muppet show, for kids of all ages.”
This is the first time The Muppet Show has been renewed since 1981 and thanks to the success of Jason Segel’s Muppets movie, which has injected some life back into the puppets, an updated The Muppets Show is incoming! The show will be written by Bill Prady and Bob Kushell who will act as executive producers on the show. Sadly no premiere date has even revealed.
