LG Call is a new app from LG that allows calls via your smartwatch
LG has released an app onto the Google Play Store that lets you make calls using your smartwatch – although, for the time being at least, it’s only available on the LG Watch Urbane.
The app, LG Call, connects with the Urbane via Bluetooth and can show recent calls as well as favourites. It allows you to make calls too, so you don’t have to have your phone out to ring somebody.
The Play Store’s description of the app is quite misleading (and confusingly worded!) though as it says in the first line: “LG Call for android wear is a companion app which is work with LG android wear device.” From this, users would (quite understandably) think the app would work for a device such as the LG G Watch or G Watch R. Not surprisingly, it has left people very frustrated and the app has been rated only 1.5 stars, with (at the time of writing) 409 of 477 people rating it 1 star.
The Urbane is one of the more high end smartwatches: it features a 1.2GHz quad core processor, 1.3-inch display and 410 mAh battery. It’s available in the UK for £259.
