After a 25-year absence Nintendo is bringing back one of their most popular events at E3 this year, the Nintendo World Championships
Nintendo decided to let fans know what’s in store for them at E3 this year, and while they won’t have a live presence at the event on par with previous years, Nintendo will be bringing something magical, The Nintendo World Championships. The event will be the first of it’s kind in 25 years, that’s right, the last Championship was all the way back in 1990.
One again Nintendo will be taking over the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on June 14 for the event, two days before E3 begins. Anyone can attempt to qualify too with rounds taking place at Best Buys in major cities in the US. Winners from said events, as well as invited competitors, will compete on June 14 for the crown of 2015 Nintendo World Champion. Nintendo is set to reveal more details about the event in the coming weeks.
Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime said in a statement:
“Whether you’re tuning in online or joining us at the show, we want to include fans of all ages this E3 with an innovative and nostalgic focus on fun.”
