The much anticipated successor to the popular OnePlus One smartphone is nearing release, meaning the expected rumour mill is in full motion – the latest surrounds the chipset that is set to feature in the OnePlus Two.
According to a post on Weibo, Pete Lau, OnePlus’ CEO, has revealed that the OnePlus Two will be rocking a Snapdragon 810. If this is to be believed it is the first sign that the OnePlus Two will follow in its predecessors footsteps in terms of specs, as the 810 is the latest Qualcomm processor.
The Snapdragon 810 is the latest ‘de facto’ processor for many high end smartphones, featuring in both the HTC One M9 and the LG G Flex 2.
Some consumers may have concerns that packing the most powerful processor on the market will result in the OnePlus Two losing one of the main appeals of the OnePlus One, however Lau mentioned a price of ¥2,499.99, which equates to around $403.
This price should be taken with a pinch of salt due to the constant variations in retail prices in different markets, however the $400 mark will see OnePlus remain its aggressive pricing policy to undercut their larger rivals.
