Remember the game Snake on your old Nokia phones? Well it’s making a triumphant smartphone return with Snake Rewind later this month
We’ve already excitedly told you about Snake Rewind, the upcoming modernised version of the classic monochrome pixel chomper from the 90s, Snake. But now we’re excited to tell you when you’ll be able to addictively tap your little snake into different directions to grow bigger and bigger.. May 14.
Taneli Armanto, the creator of the original Nokia Snake game, is bringing what could be considered the first mobile game back to a platform awash with smaller addictive titles such as Flappy Bird, Threes!, and more. Snake Rewind is a modern take on a classic concept where, like in the 90s, you take control of a pixelated snake who’s only mission is to eat as many blocks as possible, but there’s a catch.. HE GROWS! Though, I don’t know why I’m telling you this, you likely already know what Snake is all about.
This version however adds a more modern twist with a selection of different graphics, including the original green and grey versions, and the ability to collect power-ups and of course, rewind the snake after crashing to continue the game.
Snake Rewind will be launching globally on May 14 on iOS, Android and Windows Phone, throwing you back to a time where the iPhone was nothing but a sci-fi idea and text and calls were the only method of mobile communication. Simpler times, eh?
