Sony has today announced that they’ve ordered a second season of their super hero show, Powers, exclusively for PlayStation
While Netflix’ super hero show, Marvel’s Daredevil is currently winning over audiences both old and new, Sony is also having success with a super hero show of their own. Based on the Marvel comic book of the same name, Powers focuses on a world where super heroes and ordinary folk co-exist and tells the story of a homicide detective whose powers have been taken from him. The show is the PlayStation Network’s first original scripted series, and clearly it’s also proved quite the success.
Sony has ordered a second season of the show which is set to premier in 2016. Specifics on when it’ll be available have yet to be revealed, what we do know however is that it’ll have another 10-episodes. The show was originally developed for FX and got as far as having a pilot created for the series. It was then snapped up by Sony, and was slapped on the PlayStation Network instead. The show is free for all PlayStation Plus subscribers and is the first scripted series developed specifically for the platform.
Jamie Erlicht, President of Programming and Development at Sony Pictures Television, promises Season 2 will “broaden the Powers universe and bring even more of the fan-favorite characters and storylines to life.”
