Some Splatoon purchases in the UK may be delayed as transport delivering the products has been hijacked
In what sounds like a hilarious stunt for Nintendo’s upcoming multiplayer shooter Splatoon, a transport truck carrying copies of Splatoon and Splatoon Amiibo from Nintendo’s Warehouse to GAME stores in the UK has been hijacked. Witnesses on the scene claim the culprit had octopus-like characteristics and a pair of insanely skinny legs…
Of course I’m kidding about the witness statement, but the hijacking has actually happened. GAME has today updated customers with the news saying that they’ll be unable to satisfy orders of the Special Edition version of the game, which includes the Squid Amiibo. To hopefully make things a little better GAME is offering customers the standard edition of the game with a £10 discount. Alternatively they’ll be able to cancel their pre-order.
“We can confirm that the lorry transporting the Splatoon stock from Nintendo’s European warehouse to GAME UK has been stolen,” Nintendo said in a statement. “Included as part of this delivery was GAME’s allocation of the Splatoon + Squid Inkling amiibo and as a result we are unable to honour pre-orders for this item in GAME. We are working with GAME to contact those customers affected. Whilst these unfortunate circumstances were out of Nintendo UK and GAME’s control, we apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment that this has caused.”
The company has revealed that it’ll be sending out the replacement game using first-class post to ensure players get the game on time.
Above is an artists impression of the culprit.
