The prequel DLC for The Last of Us is set to relaunch on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 as a standalone download.

For those yet to dive into the world of The Last of Us, players can now dive straight into the prequel to the game’s main story as on May 12 Sony has announced they’ll be relaunching the game’s Left Behind DLC as a complete standalone title. The Left Behind DLC tells the story of Ellie and her friend Riley as they sneak out of boarding school to go exploring.

According to Sony this is the perfect opportunity for players to experience the game’s world and characters so many people loved. The standalone release will launch on May 12 for €9.99/£7.99, and for those who already own The Last of Us, can download the DLC for that price too from that date.

In addition to the standalone content – which if you’re unsure, means you can play the game without owning The Last of Us – players will also score a two hour trial of the Factions Multiplayer mode. Players can then purchase the full Factions experience or the full game of The Last of Us via an in-game upgrade paths.

Sony has also detailed the several upgrade options available for owners of the game.
