Activision has now released the official screenshots for Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 along with a bunch of information
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 was unveiled in this month’s Game Informer magazine, and while a few shots were unveiled as well as a few brief snippets of information, Activision has now officially unleashed more about the first Pro Skater title in thirteen years. Set to launch later this year on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, the game is set to retain the “timeless, combo-driven energy” as past Pro Skater games, expanding the experience with online play.
Now, we already know that the game will be developed by Robomodo and that it’ll include the same great gameplay we know and love from the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series, including manuals and reverts, as well as the game’s objective based gameplay. But there’s also the mention of projectiles? What’s that all about? Unfortunately details are being kept under wraps for now.. We’re just hoping that it’s not too over the top and a constant feature within the game.
One of the main features that Activision are keen to highlight is the game’s online multiplayer allowing players to drop in and out of multiplayer at the drop of a hat, though I’m a little concerned by the use of “for the first time ever” in the press release, as if I recall Tony Hawk’s Project 8 had the ability to challenge players across the world. I guess it’ll be a little more integrated into the main game though, rather than having to head to a multiplayer lobby.
In the online mode players will be able to take on friends and other players across the world completing missions, unlocking new content, and levelling up their character. Players can go head-to-head on the fly in competitive matches and can even build skateparks to share with the community, an interesting idea for sure.
Release dates for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, as well as the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions will be announced at a later date.
