It’s official, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 is a thing, and it’ll be happening this year
The latest issue of GameInformer is out and it includes official details on the long-awaited Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5. The last Pro Skater title was number four and launched way back in 2002, so we’ve been waiting for a new Pro Skater title for some time. Here’s hoping it’s a good one.
Details are pretty thin right now, but what we do know is that it’ll be developed by Tony Hawk: Ride and Tony Hawk: Shred developer, Robomondo, though hopefully this new title will stray away from the gimmicks. It’s set to launch this year for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions to follow.
It’ll feature both solo and co-operative play, as we’re used to in the Tony Hawk’s franchise, and it’ll also feature online play – one of my favourite things from Tony Hawk’s Project 8. You’ll be able to level up your character and have the option to seamlessly transition between online and offline game-modes, perhaps they’re integrated within the main campaign / free play modes.
Speaking of gimmicks, there’s word that some new features will be coming to the game such as power-ups and the ability to shoot projectiles during certain missions. Let’s just hope it’s not too far-fetched.
A handful of pro skaters have been confirmed for the game too such as Nyjah Huston, Aaron Homoki, Ishod Wair, Riley Hawk, Lizzie Armanto, Chris Cole, David Gonzalez, Leticia Bufoni, and Andrew Reynolds. A few pictures of the game can be seen above and below, but head on over to GameInformer for the full gallery.
No doubt we’ll see more of this during E3 next month.
