Vodafone has launched three new devices, two smartphones and one tablet, with the view of offering decent specs at an affordable price. Looking at them, you would have to say that’s been achieved.
The first smartphone is called the Smart First 6 and is marketed at the lower end as the company says: “it’s designed with first-time smartphone users in mind.” It offers a dual-core 1GHz processor, 4-inch display, 4GB of storage and a 2MP camera. No mention of RAM or front facing camera so you can expect it to be fairly low with the former and non-existent with the latter. It does run Android 4.4 though. If you’re thinking that apart from the version of Android, this phone could’ve been released four years ago, you’re right. The difference here is that this phone is only £40 on pay as you go.
The second smartphone, the Smart Prime 6, offers quite a bit more in the specs department. It has a 5-inch 720p display, 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 8MP rear camera, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. Unlike the First 6, this phone does have a front facing camera at 2MP with 720p video recording. It comes with Android 5.0 and 4G LTE compatibility. There is no information on the battery size of either this device or the First 6 though. Again, at face value it looks like a mid-range product at best but it only costs £90 on pay as you go.
The last device is a tablet called the Smart Tab Prime 6. It has a 9.6-inch screen at 1200 x 800 resolution, 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 16GB of storage and 4,600 mAh battery. There is definitely a camera on the back and what looks to be one on the front as well, although no details about those as of yet. This tablet is available from £21 a month.
