At the Sony conference at E3, Guerrilla Games unveiled their gorgeous new IP, Horizon: Zero Dawn, to the world and left a lot of people interested in this beautiful new game. Guerrilla Games are the studio behind the Killzone series, so this is definitely a big step in a different direction.
Art Director, Jan-Bart van Beek, said to Videogamer:
“It is actually still the same engine but then there is an enormous leap from Shadow Fall to this. The Shadow Fall engine isn’t an open-world streaming world engine so for the last two years a lot of technological effort has gone into actually being able to make it work like this.”
So although it is running on a linear FPS engine, they’ve made a lot of improvements to make sure everything runs smoothly. Personally I’m super excited to see how this turns out over the next few months and hopefully we can see a bit more gameplay and details on the mechanics of the game.
If you haven’t seen it already check out the trailer they showed at E3 above.
Horizon: Zero Dawn is set to release 2016 as a PS4 exclusive title.
