With the release of J-Stars Victory VS+ looming here in the UK, we’re taking a look at one of the game’s beginning characters, Son Goku.
J-Stars Victory VS+ is an arcade brawler from Bandai Namco which features a ton of characters from various manga and anime properties. Though the game itself has been available in Japan for a number of years now, Bandai Namco is re-releasing the game in the west complete with a brand new Arcade mode.
With that we’re taking a look at a number of the game’s starting characters starting first with Son Goku.
Name: Son Goku, or simply, Goku
Anime or Manga property: Goku is the main character from the insanely popular property Dragon Ball which began in Japan’s Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine all the way back in December, 1984. Originally Goku was considered an Earthling, despite his super human strength and monkey tail. He was later revealed to be a member of an extraterrestrial warrior race called the Saiyans. Later in the series Goku matures and becomes one of the universe’s mightiest warriors, protecting Earth from anyone who wishes to do harm to it.
What he’ll bring to J-Stars Victory VS+: In the game Goku is set to bring a handful of his tell tale moves from the series, notably his Kamehameha, in which he turns Super Saiyan and launches blue energy blast from his palms, this is a ranged attack that’ll allow Goku to damage his opponent from a fairly safe distance, providing they don’t also have ranged moves. Unsurprisingly, most of Goku’s moves involve some sort of energy-powered ranged attacks. He’s also a very fast-paced fighter in close-quarters combat too.
The game also features other Dragon Ball series’ characters such as Vegeta and Frieza.
J-Stars Victory VS+ is set to launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita on June 26. The game features 52 characters from 32 different Jump series, and we’ll be discussing more of these later this week.
