Dragon Age: Inquisition says bye to PS3, Xbox 360 DLC.

Developer BioWare has announced that the future DLC for Dragon Age: Inquisition will not be released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The news was revealed in a post on the Dragon Age: Inquisition website where BioWare talk about their new save importer for people moving from a PlayStation 3 to PlayStation 4 and same for Xbox consoles. PC players are not affected by this news of DLC and will continue to get further packs.

For those of you who are now going to look into moving your saves across to a new console – provided they’re in the same family – you will be able to do so later this month when Patch 8 is released. The good news however is that if you have already purchased the previously release DLC, such as the Jaws of Hakkon and Spoils of the Avvar packs, then you will be able to download them again on the new console for free. Promotional items will also carry over during the switch which is rather nice.

So to summarise, PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 saves, DLC (if purchased), and promotional items can be moved over to PlayStation 4/Xbox One. The downside however is that you will need to buy a new copy of the game. Note as well that you will not be able to import your console save to the PC version of Dragon Age: Inquisition.

“All future Dragon Age: Inquisition DLC will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One only”

Though this news comes as an annoyance for many and in some cases may seem a bit stupid, it is worth considering the benefits of the news. From a developer point of view trying to ensure your content works well on four different sets of hardware can be tasking and have limits.

By now focusing on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC versions solely, the better hardware should ensure that future DLC packs offer a lot more in terms of content and jaw dropping moments and features. Still though, it is sad news for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 players of Dragon Age: Inquisition.

There is no news on when or how many DLC packs are still set to be released for Dragon Age: Inquisition but for now it’s a goodbye to the last gen versions.
