After what was the most disappointing gameplay reveal that I’ve ever seen, more information about Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5’s multiplayer mode has been revealed, what’s more, Activision’s new found allegiance to Sony has come to this game too offering PlayStation players some exclusive in-game goodies.
So, the multiplayer mode, this is the mode that’s receiving a lot of attention as it allows 20 players to be in the same session at once likely bouncing around the various ramps, rails, and gaps in some sort of radical skateboarding movie, dude.
Specifically, the online portion of the game will offer a free skate mode that’ll see upto 20 people in a lobby at a time in dedicated servers, meaning you won’t be relying on someone else’s connection to hit that gnarly line. This is a way for players to “hang out” and just cruise around.
The session menu, which will be available in the multiplayer mode, will allow players to manage their parties, queue up specific missions, and join in the multiplayer festivities. It’s also drop-in and out too so players can just back out into single player mode if they’re not having a good time.
The last-gen versions of the game do unfortunately miss out on this mode, and won’t have any multiplayer at all.
Finally, Activision has announced that PlayStation players will be able to grab some exclusive “heads” for their characters based on popular Sony franchises, such as Sackboy, Sweet Tooth, and Ratchet.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 is set to launch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 2 in Europe.
