Following the announcement of the company’s new flagship, now titled the Moto X Style, Motorola had something else up their sleeves today, the Moto X Play, a slightly dumbed-down version of the Moto X Style with some interesting improvements.
The Moto X Play is a smaller version of the Moto X Style that’s apparently much cheaper than the competition, it boasts the same 21-megapixel camera as the Moto X Style, but also offers a massive 3630mAh battery which could last you two whole days, apparently.
It sports a 5.5-inch HD display, which is a little less than its Stylish counterpart, but where it lacks in display, it makes up in battery-life. It also comes with the super fast charging offered with the Moto X Style, but this time it’s slightly slower.
In addition to the 21-megapixel rear camera, it’ll also come with a 5-megapixel front facing snapper. It can also all be customised in the Moto Maker, but we’re assuming that there’ll be less options than the Style.
It’ll come powered by a 1.7GHz Snapdragon 615 and 2GB RAM, which does make it a slightly mid-range version of the Moto X Style, though according to Motorola it’ll be priced at $300-$400 less than competitors like the iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S6.
Overall it looks to be a comfortable middle-ground to the high-end Moto X Style and the lower end Moto G, which was also announced today.
