Devolver Digital never cease to amaze me, first they publish a bird dating sim, then a game about a time-travelling bunnyman politician, and now this, Dropsy the Clown, probably the creepiest pixel-art game I’ve ever seen. I mean.. Just look at him.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not one of those people with an irrational fear of clowns, but my god, if this chap tried to hug me, like the game suggests, I think I’d probably need to change my underwear.
Coming to PC, Mac, and Linux this September 10, Dropsy the Clown is a new type of point and click adventure wherein the player can choose which journey Dropsy the Clown goes on, doling out hugs along the way. This point-and-click “hugventure” will allow players to piece the puzzle together however they wish.
It seems the voiceless Dropsy has been wrongly accused following a deadly circus fire and is intent on clearing his name one moist cuddle at a time. But as he can’t talk, he’ll be communicating through visual icons and will take players on a self-aware journey of self-discovery harnessing the theme of love and redemption. All wrapped up in a creepy-ass clown costume.
Dropsy can also talk to animals, which I’m sure has some benefit, right?
Be prepared to feel uncomfortable this September when Dropsy the Clown launches on Steam.
