Back to the Future returning to cinemas

To celebrate its 30th (30th!!!) anniversary, Universal has announced it will be re-releasing the Back to the Future trilogy as DVD and Blu-ray boxsets.  What’s even more exciting is that the company has also revealed that the trilogy will be returning to cinemas on 21 October 2015 to coincide with the date that Marty and Doc travel to in Back to the Future II!

No word yet on how universal (sorry!) this cinematic event will be, but the studio’s official statement is “check local listings for show times.”

The DVD and Blu-ray boxsets will be released the day before the cinema return and feature the following goodies:

  • All three original movies
  • All 26 episodes of the animated series
  • A 64-page book,
  • Light-up “Flux Capacitor” packaging
  • A bonus disc with over two hours of additional content

I’m really looking forward to this and I’m crossing my fingers that the movies return to cinemas here in Australia. Would definitely be keen to see all three again.  The second is my favourite.  When I went to the States back in 2011, the Nike store in Las Vegas had a prototype of Marty’s shoes on display. And apparently you’ll be able to buy your own some time this year – how cool is that?
