Do you see how people just use Batman as a marketing technique? I mean like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, though you just have to sometimes point out the trends.
I mean, look at the latest Superman movie for example. It didn’t perform as well as it should, so just chuck Batman at it. Mortal Kombat, just add Batman and friends. So now, just mix the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with Batman.
That’s right, this November publisher IDW and DC Comics will print a six-issue miniseries where Batman and The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossover. So, you have the four turtles which were mutated by a strange ooze and learned Ninjitsu and were conceived as a parody to the ninja and Frank Miller stuff of the 80s.
Then, you have Bruce Wayne who witnessed his parents death at a young age and trained to become the ultimate crime fighter. One of the characters credited with beginning the idea of the modern superhero.
Both aren’t new to the comic crossover. Batman has teamed up with Spider-man, Daredevil, Grendel and even Harry Houdini. The heroes in a half shell, have met the Ghostbusters, Savage Dragon and the Power Rangers.
So, how is this all going to happen? Well the typical way of course. One character ends up in different universe. Then they clash. The folks at DC have said this:
In the ongoing power struggle between the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, General Krang, and the Foot Clan, allegiances have shifted and the battle lines have been drawn.
Krang concocts a plan to rid himself of both the Turtles and Shredder by transporting them to another dimension, where they land in the dark and dangerous streets of Gotham City. It isn’t long before they encounter Gotham’s most famous resident, Batman. The Caped Crusader may be their only hope of overcoming their enemies and getting back home. But not before they encounter a whole cast of Gotham’s most infamous rogues.
