Even if Bethesda wanted to, they literally can’t make any more Pip-boy Editions of Fallout 4 due to the manufacturer having to move-on to other clients’ work.
The Fallout 4 Pip-boy Edition has become insanely popular, more popular than Bethesda even considered, and despite asking for the Pip-boy accessory’s manufacturer to make more, it has finally come to a point where no more can be made as they’re now too busy to make future stock.
Priced at £100, the Pip-boy Edition came with all sorts of goodies, one of which is a wearable Pip-boy which the user can then slap their phone into and use it as a companion for their time in Fallout 4. And despite the high price, they’ve proved to be pretty popular.
Speaking to Gamespot at QuakeCon this weekend, Marketing VP Pete Hines said:
We reached a point where we’d go back to the factories and they were like, ‘guys, this is it, sorry. This is as long as we can run the lines and as many of them as we can make.’
The manufacturer, according to Hines, were pretty flexible when it came to making a few more as demand rose, but ultimately they had to stop somewhere.
We’d go back to [the factories] and say, ‘Demand for this is insane, we’ve got to make more. And they’d move other projects off or shift stuff to other factories and it just came to [them telling Bethesda], ‘Final answer: sorry, this is as many as we can make.’
Hines wrapped up by saying that all of the Pip-boys currently made or in production are all pre-orders and that they span more than a couple of thousand. He also added that this is probably the most they’ve made of a collector’s edition for any of their games.
