No, you’re not looking at an ad found in an old Nintendo magazine from the late eighties, early nineties, these are six brand new Hot Wheels racers that Mattel is set to release as part of Nintendo’s celebration of 30 Years of Super Mario.
The toys, which have been spotted by Brazillian toy website, T-Hunted, will contain six different vehicles each with designs and packaging based on a series of Mario titles, and each feature the Super Mario Bros. 30th Anniversary logo.
The six vehicles are:
- 8 Crate Delivery (Dr. Mario)
- A-OK (Mario Kart)
- Cool-One (Super Mario Bros. 2)
- Dairy Delivery (Super Mario Bros.)
- School Busted (Super Mario 3)
- Volkswagen T1 Panel Bus (Super Mario World)
According to the website, the Mario-themed Hot Wheels are set to launch in October.
This is no doubt another part of Nintendo’s efforts to licence their IP out to third parties to help increase brand exposure, and I for one, am not complaining.
I’ll definitely be grabbing one, or all of these.
