Shortly after confirming that FNaF4 will be releasing two months earlier than anticipated, Scott Cawthon has released a trailer for the latest entry in the insanely popular horror series on his official YouTube channel, showcasing a whole new setting and easily some of the creepiest animatronic designs in the series to date.
If you haven’t watched it already, I’d recommend watching the trailer in the video above before reading on to avoid spoilers.
Confirming a few fan observations based on the last teaser, the new game takes place in a house as opposite a pizzeria. It looks like the game will make the most of this setting – judging by the lack of a camera overlay, it seems as though you’ll be moving about yourself unlike previous titles in the series, though I wouldn’t be surprised if you’re confined to a single room.
Overall, FNaF4 looks to be some pretty scary stuff – there seems to be a lot you’ll have to keep track of to stay alive and having to peer into the darkness alone looks to be the most horrible thing ever, especially with the ever-present and very real threat of one of the monstrosity versions of the classic cast suddenly leaping forth. Bloody hell, those designs are even freakier in motion to me.
Sure, as with the other games you’ll get acclimatised to the tension and the jumpscares that punish failure after a while, but it looks like there’ll be a lot of terror to bear (no pun intended) to get to that point.
Five Nights at Freddy’s 4: The Final Chapter will be releasing on August 8th for PC.
