Another AAA shooter is getting the free-to-play treatment as it heads to China. This time it’s EA’s parkour infused, bot battler, Titanfall. This comes as part of a partnership between EA Games and Nexon.
Nexon is a major Asian publisher known for dabbling in monstly free-to-play games such as MapleStory, Combat Arms, and Dirty Bomb, to name a few. It’s latest project is a free-to-play version of Titanfall for the Asian market.
Details as to what will be excluded and what what will be changed to an in-game purchase are pretty thin, though chances are Burn Card Packs are a likely contender as well as possible weapon purchases.
“We look forward to working with the talented teams at Respawn and EA and leveraging Nexon’s free-to-play expertise to deliver a new and engaging online game based on Titanfall To the Asian market,” said Nexon president and CEO Owen Mahoney in a statement to IGN.
It seems like Respawn Entertainment are taking a step back from this one, which means they’ll still be putting their all into Titanfall 2.
